World Book and Copyright Day, 23rd April

World Book and Copyright Day
World Book Day is the biggest annual celebration of books and reading in the world. But World Book Day is not celebrated on the same day in every country. The origins of the day that is now celebrated in the UK and Ireland come from Catalonia, where roses and books were given as gifts to loved ones on St. George's Day - a tradition started over 80 years ago.

In Spain we celebrate it on 23 rd April, do you know WHY???
The 23rd April is a symbolic date for world literature for on this date and in the same year of 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died.

Find some games clicking on the picture:

ENJOY READING! Books are wonderful friends, they never give you alone, they are fun, you learn a lot and they take you to fantastic places and tell you fantastic stories. What else can we ask for?

St George's Day, 23rd April

St George's Day is celebrated on 23rd April each year. Although it is not a big event or a national holiday, it's a great excuse to enjoy or learn about some of England's customs and traditions, and also to think about knights and castles and dragons!

Who was St. George?
He is the patron saint of England.
He was a Roman soldier who protested against the Roman torture of Christians, and was killed for his beliefs.

He is most famous for the story of his fight against the dragon:
